Presidential Message in 2005
Dr. Hua He
It is my great honor to serve you in 2005 as the president of DCEA, an organization with 25 years of great history - one of the oldest within the Chinese America Community in SE Michigan, an organization with unique focus and passion to advancing technical skills, professional networking and career development for our members. I will do my best in my role and work with the 2005 board to build DCEA ever stronger.
DCEA completed a fruitful year in 2004 under the leadership of Dr. Ming Shi, our 2004 President. Please visit the web site for the 2004 list of the great events held by DCEA and jointly held with other Chinese American organizations.
Now our organization has more than 300 members, and more importantly we are glad to see more members active in assisting and participating DCEA events.
For 2005, we will continue to serve our members well. I would like to highlight a few special areas that we will focus on. First, DCEA will further strengthen connections with SAE International and SAE China as we see more globalization in product development and design. The 搕rademark?DCEA Technical Conference in April will offer a great opportunity in 2005 because the time coincides with the 2005 SAE World Congress, and at the same time when SAE China will also have a delegation visiting Michigan. We will provide a separate training seminar for the Delegation around that time as well. Second, DCEA will celebrate its 25 year tradition in 2005. A special ceremony will be organized in the fall to celebrate our heritage and to meet among members as well as with our former board members and presidents. Third, DCEA will complete its 501 C3 tax status application and look at ways to further improve our organization, ranging from fundraising, member database and operation guidelines.
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our corporate sponsors in 2004 and look forward to having their continuous support in the future: General Motors Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Daimler-Chrysler Corporation and Lawrence Technological University. Without their generous support, we couldn抰 have organized so many events for our members and community.
I would also invite other organizations and firms to support DCEA. In the past we have had good working relationships with several Chinese American organizations in the community such as CAGD, ACA, CAPA, DCBA etc.
