Asensing look for a Director - Sales/New Business Development

Asensing is a relatively young, hihigh-tech micro-electronics systems supplier (MEMS) based in Ghuangzhou, China.  Asensing specializes in providing high precision positioning hardware, software and fusion algorithms that are integral to OEM autonomous driving assistance systems (ADAS) for Level 2+ through to fully autonomous Level 5 vehicles.  Asensing has captured the majority market share for its products in China and is in the process of building out a global team to achieve its ambitious global growth objectives.  More information on the company and its products can be found at www.asensing.com. 

The Director of Sales/New Business Development will be an energetic, motivated and a proven sales leader who will help drive global growth and success for Asensing.  The successful candidate will define and execute account strategies for various Automotive OEM and Tier-1 accounts headquartered in and/or doing significant business in the North American region in the ADAS and Autonomous Vehicle space for passenger cars and light trucks, heavy truck, package delivery vehicles, mass transit, and any smart, autonomous mobility company that requires accurate positioning capability. 

This role includes responsibility for promoting the entirety of Asensing’s product portfolio, driving sales and account management activities to meet and exceed new business targets and for commercially managing successful execution of all new business awards in North America.  The successful candidate will dual report to the North American Managing Director (Ohio) and the VP for International Development (China).

Key Responsibilities

  • Own/lead the overall customer business development and commercial interface, including developing and managing relationships across the technical and commercial/purchasing groups, from working level up to senior leadership
  • Maintain a deep and dynamic understanding of the customer’s business and technical objectives, strategies, and capabilities, and ensure ongoing alignment with Asensing’s business objectives
  • Drive “design-in” decisions for Asensing products across ADAS and Autonomous Driving systems and sub-systems. 
  • Lead responsibility for price and commercial terms negotiation
  • Account management: work closely with Asensing’s extended team (product management. product marketing, program management, customer engineering, development engineering, etc.) to ensure customer needs are addressed at all phases of a program - from concept development to RFQ pursuits to commercial deployment (SOP) and beyond
  • Work closely with the broader Asensing support organization (Legal, Contracts, Sales Operations, Customer Service, etc.) to support all aspects of the customer business cycle: NDAs, License agreements, Development tools, Customer support and issue resolution, Forecasting, Pricing strategy, Customer service, Production and EOL management
  • Maintain sales pipeline, provide monthly forecasts, and support quarterly and annual account reviews

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of demonstrated success in Sales, Product Management/Marketing or related work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience within the automotive industry, preferably with direct experience in Telematics, In-vehicle Infotainment (IVI)/Digital Cockpit and/or ADAS/Autonomy domains
  • 5+ years of experience selling directly to automotive OEM’s and/or Tier-1 suppliers
  • Customer engagement at Automotive Tier-1s at senior leadership level including product conceptualization, commercial and long-term partnership experience
  • Knowledge of semiconductors, MEMs technology, ADAS, HD maps and satellite positioning
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strategic cycle planning experience (sales forecast & business plan)
  • Proven ability in prospecting with new customers.
  • Proven commercial account maintenance experience (manage account plans, quote requests, program acquisition, commercial issues, product costing, breakdowns, negotiations with Purchasing, Cost Estimating; interface with Program Engineering and Program Purchasing)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop deep customer relationships is a must for a candidate to be successful in this position.
  • Computer experience and proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as customer specific internet based commercial tracking systems is required

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Humanities or related field.
  • MBA preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience at a semiconductor manufacturer, Automotive Tier-1 or OEM
  • Experience with software and software services, either stand-alone or as part of a system solution to the automotive industry
  • Bi-lingual (English & Chinese)
  • While this position is primarily a remote working opportunity, the successful candidate will have the ability to travel domestically (and potentially internationally) to meet customer/account objectives
