DCEA Awards

DCEA administers two award programs every year.  The DCEA Future Engineer Award is presented in every spring and the DCEA Outstanding High School Student Scholarship is presented in every fall.  The call for nominations and of the awards are posted on DCEA website (www.detroitengineer.org) and local newspapers.

DCEA Future Engineer Award is to recognize outstanding undergraduate engineering student(s) who will soon enter the engineering profession or pursue graduate studies in the fields of engineering or applied sciences. 

  1. Applicant must be an undergraduate engineering senior in good standing. (Graduating in the year of award).

  2. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 out of a possible 4.0.

  3. Applicant should be an active student member of DCEA or have parent(s) who have been active members of DCEA for at least one year at the time of application.

  4. Applicant should demonstrate ability in becoming an engineer such as completion of design projects, research, and extracurricular activities, leadership, co-op/intern experience, community service, etc.

  5. A copy of the applicant's resume, a recommendation letter from a nominator (professor or engineering professional), and a statement (not exceeding two pages) on significant accomplishments, career goals, special experience, etc. should be included in the nomination. 

  6. Fill the Application form and mail it with all nomination materials and a cover letter to Awards Committee, DCEA, P.O. Box 1595, Warren, MI 48090-1595 by March 2nd of the year.

  7. The DCEA Future Engineer Award recipient shall be recommended by DCEA Awards Committee and approved by DCEA Board of Directors.  The award includes a plaque and an appropriate monetary award which will be presented in the awards luncheon at DCEA Annual Technical Conference in every spring.

DCEA Outstanding High School Student Scholarship is to recognize outstanding high school senior(s) who will soon pursue undergraduate studies in the fields of engineering or applied sciences.

  1. Applicant should be high school senior student in good standing (Graduating in the following year).

  2. Applicant should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 out of a possible 4.0.

  3. Fill the application form and mail it with a copy of the most recent transcript to Awards Committee, DCEA, P.O. Box 1595, Warren, MI 48090-1595 by November 1st of the year.

  4. The DCEA Outstanding High School Student Scholarship recipients shall be recommended by the DCEA Awards Committee and approved by DCEA Board of Directors.  The award includes a plaque and an appropriate monetary award which will be presented in the awards luncheon at DCEA Annual Technical Conference in following spring .
