Litton Lee, Executive Vice President of Bquad Engineering Corporation and
resident of West Bloomfield, died at the age of 60 on June 20, 2004.
Litton was born in Chung Qing, China, and grew up in Hong Kong and
Taiwan. He graduated from the
National Taiwan University in Mechanical Engineering, and received a full
scholarship to attend the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a PhD in
Mechanical Engineering.
Litton
devoted his professional life to the automotive industry and the community.
He worked at General Motors as a Research Engineer, held numerous
patents, and was a consultant for several automotive manufacturers.
In 1990, he was invited by the Taiwan Ministry of Transportation to set
up the Automotive Research and Testing Center.
As the president, he built a world-class testing facility from the ground
up that contributed significantly to the on-going success of Taiwan's automotive
industry.
Litton
held a number of executive positions in the American Society of Automotive
Engineers, and was a director on the Board of International SAE. Litton not only
had a passion for his profession, but also for inspiring young engineers and
imparting to them his wealth of knowledge.
Litton
was also active in the community. He
was the founder of the Detroit Chinese Engineering Association, a past president
of the Michigan Chinese Academic and Professional Association, a principal of
the Chinese School of Greater Detroit, and a board member of the Association of
Chinese Americans. He was an active contributor and participant of many
charities, such as the Cancer Foundation Fund Drive, Soup Kitchen, Junior
Diabetes, and March of Dimes.
In
recent years, Litton faced the challenge of combating lymphoma, all the while
continuing to celebrate life with friends and family, and pursuing his interests
in golf, travel, and community activities. Above all else, Litton was a loving husband, father, brother,
and friend. His life has touched
many, and he will be remembered for his generosity, friendship, and kindness.
Litton
is survived by his wife, Janilla, his daughters, Cynthia and Katrina, his
brother Lyon, and his sister Lillian.
